The Jeep® Patriot made its first appearance in the 2007 model year. Its retirement was hinted in January, 2016, and made official a few months later. The 2017 Jeep® Patriot represents the end of the line for this popular Jeep SUV, available for a limited time to the Ann Arbor customers served by Pinckney Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM.

2017 Jeep Patriot Details

Strictly speaking, the 2017 Jeep Patriot isn't a new model year-- it's a continuation of the 2016 model, and will be around only until the vehicles built through the end of 2016 are sold off. For now, five trims (High Altitude, Latitude, Sport SE, Sport, and 75th Anniversary Edition) are available. Front-wheel drive is standard, with 4WD optional. The 2.0L and 2.4L four-cylinder engines are coupled to a range of transmissions that include a five-speed manual, a CVT transaxle, or a six-speed automatic transmission.*

2017 Jeep Patriot Special Features*

Because this is a Jeep SUV, the mechanical features are backed by some nifty and useful technology. As in years past, the UConnect infotainment system is a highlight. It gives access to apps, GPS navigation, SiriusXM traffic and radio, Bluetooth voice commands, and more. There are auxiliary and USB inputs, 12-volt auxiliary power outlets, and even a 115-volt power outlet on the Latitude trim. If you're up for adventure, you'll find that the Jeep Patriot is as ready as you are. What's more, with option packages (like electronics, appearance, and tow packages) you can get even more style and function out of a vehicle that already had both in spades.

2017 Jeep Compass

Of course, one doesn't simply retire a vehicle as popular as the Jeep Patriot unless there's a replacement in waiting. Enter the 2017 Jeep Compass. While another SUV wears that badge right now, it, like the Jeep Patriot, is on its way out. One new Jeep SUV with the Jeep Compass name replaces the Jeep Patriot and the outgoing 2016-17 Jeep Compass. The new version shares its platform (and its panoramic dual-pane sunroof) with the Jeep Renegade, but gets its looks from the much larger Jeep Grand Cherokee. Front-wheel drive will be standard, 4WD optional, and at least one trim -- the Trailhawk trim, with Jeep® Active Drive Low 4x4 -- will be outfitted for serious off-roading.

Buying a 2017 Jeep Patriot

We'll be sorry to see the 2017 Jeep Patriot go, but we're happy to say that it's going out on a high note. For a lot of the drivers we've served around Ann Arbor, it was "just enough" SUV, a fun city driver with enough off-road credibility to wear its Jeep nameplate proudly. There's still a chance to own or lease your own Jeep Patriot. Just come to the Pinckney Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM showroom at 1295 E M-36 in Pinckney, MI today for a test drive!

*Options vary by trim, and not all options will be available on all trims. Ask your Jeep dealer serving Ann Arbor for details.
